Festival Themed Austin Wedding

You know what’s beautiful to witness? People owning who they are. They described their festival wedding day as “tastefully traditional and refreshingly unconventional.” Held at their friends’ private ranch, Eclipse Event Co. absolutely transformed the place into an outdoor venue. It was full of color and sequins and all the guests participated.

We were most impressed with how intentional every detail and every person was. I’ve documented almost 100 weddings and I’ve never felt presence from a crowd quite like this.

Not. One. Phone. In. Sight.

It was a decent sized guest list, but it still felt so intimate and I know this played a role in that. Their best friend JP Sears officiated the wedding, in a priest costume, might I add. There was roaring laughter, tears shed, and they shared the most vulnerable vows I’d ever heard; like if you had just happened upon this ceremony and really listened, you’d feel like you had known them for years. Imagine the possibilities for connection when we can put our phones down and keep our hearts open, truly.

This wedding also shifted how I view capturing guests. The festival theme really changed the energy of the entire day. As the kids say, they ~understood the assignment~ and went ALL OUT. Their participation was so important to the way it translated to the images.

The most common question I get about this wedding is: “how the heck did they convince everyone to dress up in festival attire?”

Info, info, info. The invites were very clear this would be a festival themed wedding and appropriate attire was encouraged. They also had a descriptive wedding website breaking down what to expect for the entire weekend along with a Pinterest board with outfit ideas. Most people had two outfits, changing into the second one for the after party.

After 9pm everyone changed outfits, there were multiple DJ sets, performances and fire dancers. Some guests even camped in the pasture in tents. This was not just a wedding day, but an experience.

For me this solidified the foundation that my brand is built on. That a wedding day should be two things: a celebration of your love and of who you are.

You won't regret doing things your own way. 🖤

What Alexa + Jordan had to say:

If I could give Lauren 10+ stars I would! I knew without a doubt she was the ONE to document my wedding day and my husband and I are beyond thrilled with how our gallery turned out. We already know that we will have Lauren around to document every major milestone throughout our lives with her exceptional photography. Beyond her work, her heart is what makes her so special and so unique. I have loved every session with her - whether it's with our company's branding shoots or for our big day - our wedding! Thank you, Lauren, for all the brilliant work you do and for being such a dream to work with. You're the BEST!
