Modern Fall Wedding at GAS Design Center in Tuscumbia, Alabama

Remember the treehouse couple? Surprise, this is their wedding day and it was nothing short of unique.

Just two hours south of Nashville, in Tuscumbia, Alabama it was held in an art studio turned venue that was modern with industrial details. It was the perfect blank canvas. Many elements were used that highlighted the fall season, but still kept it edgy (and a little vampy): acrylic chairs, gold silverware, matte black, and pops of rich pink. Trey wore all black and Brooke went glam with a dramatic veil and voluminous hair that gave me an old Hollywood feel. Everyone said she resembled Priscilla Presley.

They didn’t have a traditional wedding party where they stand up at the altar with them but made sure to be surrounded by friends throughout the day. I love that the day was truly about them and their love.

One of the only priorities she gave me was her dad’s classic car. It was parked outside the venue waiting as the getaway car and we made sure to take advantage. The perfect prop.

Brooke has spent some time in India which has cultivated the deep love and admiration she has for the culture. She had a sitar player perform as she made her way down the aisle. The room even smelled of burning incense. It was an experience as soon as you walked in.

During the reception, a yacht rock band performed which was tons of fun! And sooo them. All the classics were played and everyone danced the entire time. T + B even crowd surfed at one point in the night (there are pictures, no worries). They know how to have a damn good time.

There is so much I could say about this day but I’m drawn to something I’ve spoken about on Instagram lately. Social media has brewed up an immense pressure that brides feel to have their Pinterest board replicated or else their wedding isn’t worthy. In our own ways, creatives feel this too. The only way to combat this is to throw out all expectations and be present- have an open heart, with guards down and truly live it. And they did- so much so that it allowed me to flow in that energy, follow suit and create something that I’m extremely proud of. My heart was cracked open so wide by the end of the night, it made space for someone to enter - one of the groomsmen if we are going to get specific. But that’s a story for another time… haha.

For a multitude of reasons, this was a weekend that I will never forget and I left feeling so loved, appreciated and inspired. Thank you, Trey and Brooke, for transforming from clients into friends and I look forward to many future memories with you.

When Brooke recieved her gallery she wrote back:

"Lauren! ugh I want to cry! You captured our day so perfectly. Im such a type A control freak, but I had complete trust in you, and girl you DELIVERED!!! I cant thank you enough. Im also so grateful I get to see you more. The universe is an amazing thing. So glad our paths crossed. Love you girl."
